WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 is a professional wrestling video game developed by Yuke's, and published by THQ for the PlayStation 2 (PS2), PlayStation 3 (PS3), PlayStation Portable (PSP), Wii, Nintendo DS, and Xbox 360 systems. It is the twelfth and current video game in the WWE Smackdown vs RAW series, and is the sequel to WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2010.
The game is based on the professional wrestling promotion World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and is named after two of the promotion's three brands: SmackDown and Raw. It also features the promotion's third brand, ECW. Similar to previous games in the series, Smackdown vs RAW 2011 involves players competing in various different professional wrestling matches, either as one of the in-game characters based on WWE's roster or as a character created in the Create-a-Superstar mode. WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 adds several new features with the main theme based around customization, such as a newly improved WWE Story Designer, an expansion to the Create-A-Finisher mode to include submission techniques and the Create-A-Match mode.

The game
The create-a-storyline mode has been retooled from the previous game WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2010. The game mode now has 200 animations to choose from and 30 locations for the player to design each scene. This mode still allows the player to choose from the WWE weekly shows (RAW, ECW and Smackdown) and pay-per-views. Now in this addition, you can choose up to 10 characters in an animation and new sounds, videos, camera angles and the all new End Of Show logo sign.
The create-a-superstar feature has also been retooled. The game mode still features three-dimensional apparel but now the player is able to create your own colours to add to the clothing or hair. There are over 230 items for the player to choose from to put on the created superstar. The mode can also allow the ring announcer to say the name of the created superstar in the superstar's entrance. This mode allows to put the created superstar into RAW, ECW, Smackdown, Free Agent, WCW, Legend and the newly added WWE Superstars. Also, the player can write their own crowd signs during the created superstars entrance by putting colour, texting and different fonting into it.
The Road To Wrestlemania mode has been reworked also. Now, you can choose superstars out of Matt Hardy, Christian, Kane, Created Superstar, Kelly Kelly or the newly added Create Your Own. Similar to create-a-storyline, the create a Road To Wrestlemania allows you to choose any superstar from the WWE Brands (RAW, ECW and Smackdown) to use in your own created Road To Wrestlemania.
The create-a-finisher option has been also reworked, with the addition of 20 percent more content. In the previous versions, the player was able to create a finisher grapple and create a finisher from including aerial techniques. Now the player is able to create a submission. The player is also able to adjust the submitting trajectory and speed of the move.
The create-an-entrance option has been retooled in the game as well. The player can now create their own crowd signs for the created superstars in their entrance, but not for WWE Superstars and Divas. There are over 100 options to choose from in the advanced mode, in where now you can make a superstar or diva taunt in their entrance. You can still adjust the lighting, have fireworks and choose championship entrances but now you can choose to colour fireworks and lighting.

WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011 still involves the THQ Training Facility with now more moves for the player to tick off. Now in the Training Facility you can choose what match you want for the player to face off in with their opponent. You are still able to choose what superstars or divas you want and you can still play with another player.
The General Manager Mode from WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2008 returns in WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011 where now you can choose any matches that are assigned into the game or your created matchtype. You can choose from whichever shows (RAW, ECW, WWE Superstars or Smackdown) with the General Managers being from RAW is Stephanie McMahon, from ECW is Tiffany, from Smackdown is Theodore Long and now the game able to allows you to create a General Manager for the WWE Superstars Brand.
This years game features several new match stipulations. A few of these are the Submissions Count Anywhere match as seen from WWE Breaking Point 2009 and a Stretcher match. Now, the game returns the I Quit match and the Lumberjack match. Also, the falls count anywhere and the submissions count anywhere will now be involved in backstage areas and outside of the arena.
The Royal Rumble match, the battle royal, the tag team match and the money in the bank ladder match has been retooled in WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011. Now, all 3 matches can involve more than 6 superstars in the ring. The tag team match can feature up to 8 man tag team and 10 man tag team. The royal rumble match can have up to 15 men in the ring at the same time, that goes the same with the battle royal featuring a 15 man battle royal match. The money in the bank ladder match can go up to 8 men.

WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2011 features more than 75 in-game superstars and divas on each console even including the DS version. The roster in the 2011 game is split into 7 classifications, RAW, ECW, Smackdown, WWE Superstars, WCW, Free Agent and Legends. Like the previous game, players can choose to change the character's classification in a roster editor called Superstar Management. Some extra charcaters include The Rock, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Rob Van Dam and Trish Stratus. Some new characters to the game include Yoshi Tatsu, The Hurricane, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus. Superstar threads has also improved, this year players will be allowed to change & customize any superstar's attire completely like they could in WWE Raw.
