UK, January 7, 2008 - German director Michael Herbig is planning a live-action adaptation of the popular animated series Vicky the Viking.

Based on the Japanese-German cartoon of the 1970s, which in turn was adapted from the children's book by Swedish author Runer Jonsson, the story revolves around Viking boy Vicky who, in keeping with his none-too-fearsome name, is a rather weak and timid individual.

To counter his timidity however, Vicky is constantly coming up with cunning and ingenious ideas to help his fellow warriors out of all manner of scrapes. Aside from that, the IGN team has no memory of the show, so if anyone can fill in the blanks, feel free to comment below.

Anyways, according to Variety, Vicky the Viking will hit screens in 2009.
