      The Legends of Wrestling franchise was originally developed by Acclaim following the end of ECW which in effect lead to the end of ECW games. During the Acclaim years the franchise consisted of three games, the original Legends of Wrestling, Legends of Wrestling II and Showdown: Legends of Wrestling.

      Acclaim filed for bankruptcy protection in 2004. On July 7th 2006, Throwback Entertainment announced that it had acquired over 150 Acclaim-published titles and vowed to bring some into the next-generation. Of these titles the Legends of Wrestling franchise was included.

      Throwback is a Toronto based company founded in 2004. Throwback is a full service publisher of Interactive Entertainment Products and now has the Acclaim Legends of Wrestling License in their corner.

      Today Throwback public relations confirmed there will indeed be another installment in the Legends of Wrestling series. Tightlipped on details, pending a formal press release, Throwback wouldn't go much further than to say Legends of Wrestling 4 or the next installment of the franchise will be a reality.

      This means big things for the wrestling games world. Not only will we have another wrestling game to enjoy, but we will add more competition to the market place in tern bringing us wrestling gamers the best games possible.

    • Die News wurde offiziell aber nicht bestätigt. GamingRing hat sich nämlich offiziell erkundigt.

      Earlier today Wrestlinggamers.com reported that Legends of Wrestling 4 was confirmed. Surprised at the news Gamingring.com Co-webmaster Charles Shane and Mike Regan spoke with a representative from Throwback entertainment regarding the news.

      "Unfortunately nothing has been confirmed or announced officially or unoffically at this time." He continued "LOW isnt even in development yet. At this point were at the stage where we see the logistics of developing the game. Seeing what wrestlers and what feature set could be in the game." He remarked were a long ways away from making an official announcement. "We are not like other developers where we make an announcement on a game that isnt set to be released till 2008 or 2009."

      Additionally they are considering on developing the game internally so those of you wishing on either AKI or in one case Yukes to develop the game will be disapointed.

      So dont hold your breath waiting on this one, there is still a long time till we see anything concrete on this game.

      Legends of Wrestling stammt von Acclaim und war eine eigenständige Reihe, welche nichts mit Legends of WrestleMania zu tun hat.

    • Legenden...Naja, ich stimme zu, fast alle wahren Legenden stammen von WWE. Wie kennzeichnen sich den Legenden? Sie haben einen enormen Wiedererkennungswert. Mann nehme Hogan oder den Warrior. Selbst wenn man sich überhaupt nicht für Wrestling interessiert, diese beiden kennt mann einfach.
      Und das zeichnet für mich Legenden aus. Und Muta, so toll er ist, aber er wird nie den Legendenstatus eines Warriors haben. Ausser vielleicht in der heimat.

      Ich würde mal sagen in Japan ist er schon eine lebende Legende ...
      Naja wäre bestimmt eine gute Alternative zum THQ-Spiel, glaube aber nicht, dass daraus irgendetwas wird ...
